Oh yes…Being conned
Unless you've been living under a rock somewhere,
you'll have noticed that people are getting bigger.
Babies are being born bigger.
More children are overweight than ever before.
And there's a massive rise in weight related health problems in adults.
So who's to blame for this obesity epidemic
and the fact that we are breeding a fatter nation??
First up, the buck stops with people taking responsibility for what they eat.
No one is force feeding you (I hope)
Food manufacturers are VERY clever with their marketing
And are CONNING people who just don't know enough about FAT LOSS nutrition.
Just this week during a Zig Zag Supermarket Tour
one of my ladies asked me if the 'High Protein' yoghurt she had picked up was a healthy option?
My initial response was "probably not".
But I didn't want to misinform her
so I took some time to study the label.
Protein is essential for muscle repair and growth and can seriously help to
increase that fullness factor!
There's a lot of hype out there about high protein diets
And how eating protein helps you lose weight.
Which is why you'll see a lot of high protein 'foodstuffs'
on the shelves in the supermarket
I even saw yesterday that Mars have now brought in high protein Mars Bar
gone off track a little there
Back to the high protein yoghurt that Sue had picked up thinking it was a healthy option.
Take a look at the comparison I did with hers and my FULL FAT Greek yoghurt
Per 100g the HIGH PROTEIN YOGHURT contains
79 calories, 9g of sugar and 9.4g of protein
Per 100g of TOTAL GREEK YOGHURT contains
57 calories, 4g of sugar and 10.3g of protein
So the high protein one is a big fat con
It contains DOUBLE the amount of sugar,
less protein AND its much more expensive too
It's hardly surprising you're confused when it comes to losing weight
Especially when the labels on foodstuffs are misleading you
My advice if you're struggling to lose weight
especially from around your middle is
1. 'To check the ingredients list'
2. To cook your meals from scratch where possible so you know exactly what's in them
3. To eat greens with at least 2 meals a day
To lose weight effectively and make sure it stays off you'll also want to make sure
you're doing the right type of exercise.
The good news is you don't even need to do it every day
to burn fat and tone up those wobbly bits.
